Saquan Barkley – Penn State

Saquan Barkley

College- Penn State

Height- 5 feet 11 inches

Weight- 225

Position- Running Back

Saquan Barkley is a junior phenom at Penn State University. Barkley has elite athleticism and should be a workhorse back at the pro level. He has good vision for cut backs and quick feet. Barkley can break arm tackles and has great balance and a powerful lower body. Barkley is one of the best at sticking his foot in the ground and exploding through the hole. He has good patience as a runner waiting for holes to open, and when holes don’t open for him he is shifty and elusive enough to create his own path. The Penn State Phenom has the speed to take it the distance every time he touches the ball and is dangerous in open field. He’s a tough kid and defenders have a tough time getting him to the ground.

Barkley is just as good as a receiver as he is a running back. He excels at catching balls from out of the backfield or lining up at the slot. He doesn’t fight the ball as a receiver and makes catches look easy.

Barkley needs to work on his pass blocking. His technique needs improvement but he seems to know his assignments. His willingness to block isn’t an issue but he does make some mistakes from time to time. He also hurdles defenders a lot which could lead to a potential injury.

Barkley’s NFL comparison is Ezekiel Elliot. Barkley has the same intangibles as Zeke but can just do everything a bit better. He has the potential to be an elite running back early on in his career and is arguably the best running back prospect since LaDainian Tomlinson. The future is very bright for Barkley.
