Overall

Payne shows nice ability to be a run-stuffing defensive tackle. He’s got a quick first step and plays with power. His good balance and footwork really help him collapse the pocket, but he needs to be more consistent with pad level. Payne doesn’t offer much as a blocker and should be viewed as a 2^nd round pick.
